Located just 45 miniutes south of Joplin, Mo, and 90 minutes northest of Tulsa, Ok, Grand Lake of the Cherokees has over 1,300 miles of shoreline. The lake boast many resorts, motels, and marinas easily providing accommodations year round. Early spring finds us in Spoonbill fishing season. As the rain begins, the Spoonbill return to the river to spawn and the fun begins! Spoonbill average 3-6 long and weigh 20-100 pounds. White Bass, or Sand Bass, run up the rivers in the spring. We spoon humps and ledges in the summer and get fantastic top water action in the fall. We also use jug and drift techniques for catching giant Catfish. Grand Lake, Oklahoma, has flathead Catfish, Channel Cats, Blues and what we call Mississippi White (a form of Blue Catfish) Catfish Fishing, one of the best tasting big Catfish around. Jim has been featured in 5 shows on The American Outdoorsman TV Show, which many of you have seen. We appreciate all of your calls and hope to fish with you soon. |
